By Dr. Daniel Rocha, DN LMT CPT CNS

Red light therapy is a treatment that uses low levels of red or near-infrared light to stimulate cell regeneration, improve blood circulation, and promote healing by targeting the mitochondria within cells, often used to treat skin conditions like wrinkles, acne, scars, and signs of aging, as well as for pain relief in muscles and joints; it's also known as photobiomodulation therapy. Red light therapy has many potential benefits, including:

Skin conditions Red light therapy can help with acne, eczema, psoriasis, and other skin conditions. It can also reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots and improve the skin's texture. Muscle repair Red light therapy can help with muscle pain and soreness and can speed up recovery times after exercise. It can also help with joint pain, arthritis pain, and tendon pain. Pain management Red light therapy can help with general pain and inflammation. It can also help release endorphins, which are natural painkillers. Mental health Red light therapy may help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Wound healing Red light therapy can help wounds heal faster by increasing blood flow to the area. Hair growth Red light therapy can help improve hair growth in people with androgenic alopecia. Red light therapy is generally safe, but if you have doubts, consult your dermatologist before using any type of red light therapy product.

All procedures are done at SyRoc CBM Gym located at 400 Gold Ave SW STE 130 in Albuquerque, NM. Each session is 30 minutes and can be added to any bodywork treatment.
